David & Nancy Dowell
Grouse Mountain Grill is an independently-owned restaurant that the owners, David and Nancy Dowell, term a "Mom and Pop" operation.
"Our staff is a small team of talented individuals - we are lucky to have them," is the word from Grouse Mountain Grill's owners. It does indeed take a committed and talented group to produce one of the finest dining experiences in the country. That, plus a lot of hard work, passion and a "really loyal clientele" is the recipe for success in the restaurant business. It doesn't hurt to have one of the most beautiful rooms and locations as well as the very talented Tony Gulizia on the piano either.
David and Nancy have lived in the Vail area since 1975 and have owned several restaurants in the area including the original Blue Spruce (Frisco) and Cyrano's (Vail Village). Their one son attends 11th grade at Vail Mountain School where skiing with the entire school on Friday afternoons is part of the curriculum in this K-12 independent school.
