Banquet Manager, Carrie Zovluck
A very fortunate series of events led Carrie Zovluck to Beaver Creek and Grouse Mountain Grill. On her first visit to Beaver Creek, 23 years ago, the challenge of balancing on skiis while basking in the thin clear air got her “hooked” on the famous Rocky Mountain High. Unwilling to settle for the London air any longer, she, enthusiastically, traded her “tube pass” for a ski pass and has never looked back.
Born in central London of an Anglo-Indian father and a Scottish mother, Carrie was exposed to a diverse mixture of cultural and culinary experiences at a young age. Enjoying a Scottish Haggis one day and a mouth-searing Curry the next were typical of the meals young Carrie grew to enjoy. Annual family vacations to France, Spain, Germany and Scotland allowed Carrie to further broaden her international taste buds, enjoying, with zest, Paella, Cheeses, Knockwursts and her favorite, “Mealy Puddings” (a savory oatmeal porridge). In college, Carrie majored in languages. Following that, she enjoyed traveling extensively through Europe, working in many cafes and bistros along the way.
Carrie, who sports a delightful English accent, has been in the hospitality industry in just about every capacity, focusing on personal customer service in hotels, pubs, bistros and most recently, Grouse Mountain Grill as a dinner server. Carrie, also known by the locals as “The Ice Cream Lady”, created and ran her own Ice Cream business, catering events and delighting the area children (and adults!) with her cold summer sweets.
After four years as a server for Grouse Mountain Grill, Carrie feels that she has had an opportunity to work with “the best”. In Carrie’s own words, “the staff, the clientele, the surroundings and the reputation of Grouse Mountain Grill are second to none.” Her promotion to Banquet Manager is the culmination of many years of customer service experience and much hard work (which is much more fun to do while on a Rocky Mountain High!).
Carrie is the proud mother of two “Vail Babies”, Kelsey Foster (17), a Eagle Valley High School junior and Setter on the school’s Volleyball team and Jordan Foster (18) who is beginning his studies in Fire Science while teaching skiing in the winter (a true “local”!). Carrie is married to James Zovluck who is the Food and Beverage Manager at Beaver Creek’s Park Hyatt.
In her spare time (if there is any!), Carrie can be found snowshoeing, practicing yoga, reading non-fiction books of diverse topics and most of all, enjoying her family in this awesome place she calls home.
